If the walking safari has a spiritual home, this is it. Phil Berry, who learned from Norman Carr himself, founded Kuyenda, and the camp is rebuilt from grass and thatch every season. Five rondavels, no electricity to speak of, and guiding of a standard that people fly across the world for.

What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. South Luangwa National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $225 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.
There is no single park fee here. On top of the gate fee, camps pass on vehicle fees, guide fees and bed levies, and what applies depends on whether the camp sits inside the national park or in the Game Management Area alongside it. Kafunta Safaris, who charge one combined figure covering the government levies, told us it comes to $60 per person per night at their two GMA camps and $90 at their camp inside the park. Treat that as the shape of it rather than a universal rate: the amounts move with each operator's lease.

Is Kuyenda Bushcamp good for families?
Not really for young children. Walking safaris are the main activity and carry a minimum age of twelve, so younger families are better suited elsewhere in the group. We found no wider child policy beyond that walking-age rule on Bushcamp Company's site, so ask when you enquire.
Can you self-drive to Kuyenda Bushcamp?
The operator's site does not confirm self-drive access. Kuyenda sits deep in the Bushcamp Company's southern concession, about two hours fifteen minutes from Mfuwe airport, and guests typically fly in and transfer by camp vehicle. Ask Bushcamp Company directly if you want to drive yourself.
What does the rate at Kuyenda include?
The record describes the rate as all-inclusive. Bushcamp Company's general terms cover accommodation, laundry, house drinks, most meals and scheduled game drives and walking safaris, with gratuities, premium drinks, add-on activities and park fees charged separately.
When is Kuyenda Bushcamp open?
Kuyenda runs a short season, from June to 1 November, then is rebuilt from grass and thatch before the next one. Outside those dates the camp does not exist in its physical form, so plan a Luangwa trip in that window if Kuyenda is the draw.
Is Kuyenda good for a honeymoon?
The site does not highlight private plunge pools or outdoor bathtubs here, the features some sister camps use for romance. Kuyenda's appeal is its walking pedigree, founded by Phil Berry, Norman Carr's protégé, rather than private add-ons, so couples wanting those should look at Chindeni or Zungulila instead.
