What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. South Luangwa National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $225 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.
There is no single park fee here. On top of the gate fee, camps pass on vehicle fees, guide fees and bed levies, and what applies depends on whether the camp sits inside the national park or in the Game Management Area alongside it. Kafunta Safaris, who charge one combined figure covering the government levies, told us it comes to $60 per person per night at their two GMA camps and $90 at their camp inside the park. Treat that as the shape of it rather than a universal rate: the amounts move with each operator's lease.

Questions about Tafika Camp
Is Tafika Camp good for families?
Yes. Children from age eight are welcome, and Tafika has a dedicated family suite with two rooms, a king bed and two doubles, plus its own add-on hide overlooking the camp waterhole. This is a lower age limit than most Luangwa camps, which usually start at twelve.
Can you self-drive to Tafika Camp?
No. Tafika is fly-in only, reached by the Coppinger family's own Cessna 210 operating as RASair, based at Mwanya airstrip near camp. The site gives no self-drive directions, so guests fly in rather than arriving by road.
Is Tafika Camp good for a honeymoon?
Yes. It has a dedicated honeymoon suite with an oversized king bed, and guests can take a microlight flight over the valley, one of the few places in Africa offering that view. The camp also has wifi in its communal area if you want to stay briefly connected.
When is Tafika Camp open?
Tafika runs from 1 May to 15 November, according to both the park record and part of the camp's own site, though another part of that site lists 10 November as the end date. Confirm the exact closing date directly with Remote Africa Safaris before booking.
What does the rate at Tafika Camp include?
Remote Africa Safaris does not publish rates for Tafika online; this is a family-run camp where quotes come directly from the operator. Ask them what the nightly rate covers, including meals, drinks, activities and park fees, before you book.
